Born on September 15, 2009 at a hospital in California, Kimi gained instant fame after participating in the popular TV show “Where Are We Going, Dad?” last year. The show produced by Hunan Satellite TV is among the most popular TV shows in China and has been rebroadcast eight times. Kimi attracted audiences with his handsome and adorable face and wits. His fame kept rising after he and his father participated in this year’s Spring Festival Gala on Hunan Satellite TV. Kimi is the poster child of several brands, including Yili QQ Star, a children’s milk brand, tuniu.com, a travel website, and My Breeze, a paper product. Lucas Tse, son of Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse, earns 120,000 yuan a day and ranks third. Among female stars, Wang Shiling, daughter of well-known variety show anchor Li Xiang, and 14-year-old Lin Miaoke, who became famous after singing at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, both rank first with a daily wage of 100,000 yuan. Cindy Tian, daughter of Olympic diving champion Tian Liang, and Zhang Tiantian, son of Chinese star Zhang Liang, each earns 80,000 yuan a day. The two children both became famous after participating in “Where Are We Going, Dad?” last year. These child stars may no longer be able to make money through advertisements, however, because an advertising draft law will prohibit children under 10 years old from appearing in advertisements.
