Making a charitable effort with picture books
    2015-01-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Students from Yucai No.1 Primary School recently staged plays adapted from a series of picture books written by the school’s students under the guidance of two art teachers, Sheng Yuli and He Yuan.

The picture books, a national prize-winning series, include nine stories about families, plants and animals. The series of books was published in April 2014.

Different materials, including recycled newspaper, leaves, clay and sponges, were used by the students to create props for the performances that are staged each Monday.

Sheng said that the creation of picture books and plays can help children discover the beauty of life while having fun.

A charity sale of the picture books intends to help raise money for school children in remote countryside. The school plans to bring the performance to children and seniors at nursing homes and welfare centers in the city.
