Another film star is bound for the New York stage. It was announced last week that Amanda Seyfried will make her off-Broadway debut in “The Way We Get By,” a new work by veteran playwright and screenwriter Neil LaBute. The two-character play will star Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski. They starred in HBO’s “The Newsroom,” as Beth and Doug, who wake up together the morning after attending a boozy wedding reception. The two find, according to the press release, that “the rules of attraction and society are waiting for them before their first cup of coffee, leading them to ponder how much they really know about each other and how much they really care about what other people think.” Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman will direct the world-premiere production, set to begin previews on April 28 and open on May 20 at Second Stage Theater. Seyfried began her career as a model when she was 11, and at 15 she began her acting career, starting with uncredited roles and moving on to recurring roles in the soap operas “As the World Turns” and “All My Children.” In 2012 she starred in the epic romantic musical drama “Les Misérables,” and later joined “Ted 2.”(SD-Agencies) |
