    Actress’ parents denounce rumors

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi’s parents have written a letter in support of their future son-in-law, rocker* Wang Feng, and denounced* online rumors that their son and daughter-in-law kicked up a row at the party where their daughter got engaged.

On February 10, rumor had it that Zhang’s older brother and agent, Zhang Zinan, made a scene at her birthday bash* with his wife, actress Yin Xu, on February 7. NetEase cited an unconfirmed story that there was a fight that left one guest, singer Wang Leehom’s wife Li Jinglei, injured. Wang Feng’s agent called the stories about the row “pure fabrication*.”

    ‘1989’ atop Billboard

Taylor Swift walked away empty-handed from the Grammys last weekend, but her consolation* prize was yet another week with the best-selling album.

“1989” tallied 108,000 sales units, including 77,000 albums and 308,000 song downloads, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan for the week ended on February 8, and has occupied the top two spots in the 15 weeks since its release.

Only her hit single “Shake It Off” competed at the Grammys since “1989” was released too late in the year for consideration.

    Wong Cho-lam married

TVB actor Wong Cho-lam tied the knot* with girlfriend Leanne Li on Saturday, which was Valentine’s Day. The couple held their ceremony at Kowloon City Baptist Church, witnessed by friends and family members.

“Leanne, you are the angel sent to me. My life is complete thanks to your love. ... I will be devoted to you from now on, just as I am devoted to Him,” Wong said in tears. They also held wedding banquets on Sunday at Hong Kong Disneyland.

    Jaycee Chan released

Jaycee Chan, son of movie star Jackie Chan, began the process of rehabilitating* his image on Saturday as he appeared in public for the first time following a six-month jail sentence on drug charges and apologized for his actions.

Speaking softly, the 32-year-old entertainer told reporters in Beijing he would dedicate his energy toward film and music projects and spend more time with his distraught mother.
