China’s leading authority on historical films, Li Shaobai, has passed away. He was 84.

    Li was one of the lead authors of a book series titled “Chinese Movie History,” which was compiled in 1963. He also wrote a number of books connected to film theory and film aesthetics.

    In recent years, he also oversaw work being done on feature films that cover elements of Chinese history.
