CCTV host in hot seat

    Shows hosted by China Central Television (CCTV) host Bi Fujian were ordered off the air for four days from April 8 to 12 as punishment for his inappropriate behavior during a private dinner, according to the Chengdu-based Huaxi Metropolis Daily.

    A video clip featuring Bi dining with friends and singing an excerpt* from a revolutionary Peking opera went viral on Monday. Bi’s version, according to the clip, was an adaptation that mocked and humiliated* the Communist Party and Mao Zedong.

    Timberlake, Biel welcome baby boy

    Singer Justin Timberlake and his actress wife Jessica Biel welcomed their first child into the world on Saturday, according to news reports. They named the boy Silas Randall.

    Timberlake, 34, was “ecstatic*,” People magazine said, adding that mother and baby were doing well.

    “My amazing son and his beautiful wife have given us the most precious gift in the world!” Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Harless, wrote on Facebook.

    Lu Chuan married

    Chinese director Lu Chuan revealed on his Weibo account that he is married to Hu Die, anchor of CCTV Morning News. He also posted a photo of the couple with their marriage certificate.

    Lu, born in 1971, married Hu, 12 years his junior, on March 26 after dating her for a year. This is the second marriage for Lu, who got divorced after shooting “Kekexili: Mountain Patrol” in 2004.

    Swift’s mom has cancer

    Taylor Swift’s mother, Andrea Finlay, has been diagnosed with cancer. Swift revealed the news on April 9 in a Tumblr post to fans titled “Just So You Know.”

    “Hey guys,” she writes. “I’m writing to you with an update I wish I wasn’t giving you, but it’s important and I’m used to sharing important events in my life with you.” Swift and her family are keeping details of her mother’s condition, and her treatment plan, private.
