    Taylor Swift comes to Shanghai

    Singer Taylor Swift will perform in Shanghai on November 10 and 11 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

    “Hey guys, it’s Taylor, I am very excited to let you know that I’ll be bringing the entire 1989 World Tour to Asia in November. I had an amazing time last time so I can’t wait to come back,” said Swift in a video message to her fans.

    Priced between 480 and 2,280 yuan (US$75.6-359), tickets will be available by calling 400-610-3721, or online via Damai.cn.

    

    Liu Xiang divorces

    China’s former Olympic hurdles* champion Liu Xiang has divorced from his actress wife Ge Tian, he said on June 25.

    Liu, 31, became an icon in China after he won the country’s first Olympic men’s track and field gold medal in the 110 meters hurdles in Athens in 2004. He became world champion in 2007 and held the world record in 2006 with a time of 12.88 seconds.

    

    James Taylor hits No. 1

    Nearly half a century after his debut, folk rocker* James Taylor finally has a No. 1 album.

    The 67-year-old singer-songwriter’s new album “Before This World” opened at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, selling 98,000 copies or the equivalent* in downloads and streaming.

    

    A-mei, Eason win at GMA

    Asia’s biggest stars lit up the red carpet at the 26th Golden Melody Awards on Saturday, Taiwan’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.

    God of Song Jacky Cheung lost the Best Mandarin Male Singer prize to Eason Chan as expected.

    The Hong Kong singer was in the news days before the ceremony after the jury’s representative, singer Sky Wu, said Cheung was the fifth and last singer to make it into the category’s nominations list.

    On Saturday, Cheung was in the audience sitting next to Chan when the winner was announced.
