JESS GLYNNE TOPS CHART WITH DEBUT ALBUM
    2015-09-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

British singer Jess Glynne is dominating the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart with her debut album “I Cry When I Laugh.”

The album was released on August 21, with five top singles, including “Hold My Hand” and “Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself.”

This result makes the 25-year-old singer the second British female solo artist, following Cheryl Cole, to bag five No. 1 singles.

She expressed her gratitude for her album’s acceptance by the British public.

“I Cry When I Laugh” has enjoyed roughly 60,000 sales, giving the singer the second biggest opening week for a debut album in 2015.

It is only 4,000 sales behind James Bay’s “Chaos and the Calm.”

Glynne rose to prominence as a featured artist on Clean Bandit’s single “Rather Be” and Route 94’s “My Love,” both of which reached No.1 on the U.K. Singles Chart in 2014.

She applied for the U.K. television show “The X Factor” when she was 15 years old but was rejected. She attended Fortismere School, where she completed her A-levels in 2008, and took various jobs at a boutique, a fitness center and a hairdresser’s. After a period spent traveling the world, Glynne worked for a music management company in her late teens and began networking with songwriters and producers, eventually honing her artistry over four years.(SD-Agencies)
