    On September 24, our school’s English newspaper reporters and editors’ meeting was held in the lecture hall. Many students attended it, and it aroused our interest in making contributions to our paper.

    The chief editor and English teacher Ms. Tang is a very enthusiastic and friendly woman. She used a PowerPoint presentation to introduce our school’s English newspaper — the Xinzhong Herald - and told us how to be good reporters and editors. First, she taught us how to cover a news story in an interesting manner. We should accumulate words and use a variety of sentences, including compound and complex sentences in our articles. Second, she gave us examples of how to revise articles as an editor. In addition, Ms. Tang gave us a few excellent articles from the Shenzhen Daily. Finally, some students in Grade 12 shared their experiences with us, telling us some good methods to improve our English and write good articles.

    I’m glad to be a reporter. In this meeting, I learned a lot and I began to have a great interest in English from then on. I can’t wait to write English articles! I believe that I can improve my English by writing articles. I will attempt to talk with others in English, too. I would like to contribute actively to the Xinzhong Herald. I will encourage my friends to read it. I will try my best to do my job well!
