FAN BINGBING, high-heeled shoes and little black dress were among the most popular tags for fashion lovers, a report by news app Toutiao and Fashion Group says. Toutiao, which gathers top news of the day based on keywords used for searches, cooperated with Fashion Group to host a “Technology and Fashion Data Festival” in Beijing on Nov. 16. With the theme “Technology is the New Luxury,” IT workers and big names in fashion discuss2ed the latest trends in big data, with tags crossing the two genres. More than 30 million people use Toutiao on a daily basis, of which 16.86 percent expressed an interest in fashion, ranking eighth on the list of areas of interest. Fan, phone and fashion According to Toutiao.com, the top five tags for users interested in fashion were female celebrities, Fan, feminine, dresses and high-heeled shoes. For those more keen on technology, the top five tags were cell phone, Apple, iPhone, smartphone and Internet. Sandals, camouflage, little black dress, printed shirts and Doug shoes were items that attracted the most hits in science and technology-based articles. In fashion articles, wide-legged trousers (tagged 78.18 million times), little black dress (38.62 million), printed shirts (24.4 million), Doug shoes (8.02 million) and leggings (1.54 million) attracted the highest volume of traffic. The brand that was mentioned most frequently in science and technology channels was Nike, and for the fashion channel, it was Chanel. Users interested in fashion cared most about what’s happening with actresses Fan, Yang Mi, Li Xiaolu, Zhao Wei and Gao Yuanyuan. Fan, who was just named one of the most stylish icons of all time earlier this month, Zhao and singer-songwriter Jay Chou were mentioned most in news and technology features. For the tech-savvy users, Jack Ma, Lei Jun, Pony Ma, Liu Qiangdong and Zhou Hongwei were the most searched faces in IT. Trends in fashion and technology Models of cars, onlookers, fitness, disposition, easy-to-match, and SUV were the top six tags that appeared in the most-read fashion articles. The top tags for tech articles were models of cars, cell phones, Xiaomi, SUV, Apple and Huawei. Fashion traffic peaked from 10 to 11 p.m., whereas traffic for tech surged between 9 to 10 p.m. Among all the Toutian users, 16.9 percent of them were interested in fashion and 13.5 percent were interested in technology. Users from Yunnan, Qinghai and Liaoning provinces expressed higher interest in style than users from other geographical areas, and those residing in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou cared more about science and technology.
