THOUGH the curtain has dropped for the 2nd International Urban Image Festival, which was held in October, some works were displayed in parks around the city as an extension of the festival through November. A photo exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is one of them. The exhibition was staged in Shuiwei Village until late November. An annual cultural event sponsored by the Futian District Government, the International Urban Image Festival is a display of photos, video documentaries, sculptures and art installations by artists from home and abroad. Themed “A record of our era,” the festival featured seven topics this year. Among them, the exhibition of photos by master photographers at Artron Art Gallery was one of the highlights. More than 300 photographs, some 50 of which were original autographed photos, were on display in the exhibition. Many of the photos were taken by French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, war photographer Robert Capa, German documentary photographer August Sander and American photographer Jerry Yulsman.
