First Asia Biennial held in GD
    2015-12-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 1st Asia Biennial & the 5th Guangzhou Triennial is under way at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou. It runs through April 10.

Nearly 50 artists from 17 countries, including China, the United States, Italy, Japan, India and Russia, are showcasing their installations, videos, paintings and photographs, presenting Asian history, culture and trade. The event also includes academic forums, performances, lectures and art workshops.

With “Asia Time” as the theme, the event is being held in Guangzhou, a location that not only played a crucial role in the ancient Silk Road but also has a significant function in the current ultra-modern Asian economy. This Asia Biennial tries to reflect the cultural exchanges brought by the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.

Guided by the Bureau of External Cultural Relations and Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture, as well as the Culture Department of Guangdong Province, the Asia Biennial will be one of the largest biennials in Asia, with an international curatorial team and artists from all over the world.(SD-Agencies)
