GIRLS’ GENERATION INVITED TO CCTV LUNAR NEW YEAR GALA
    2016-01-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    韩国当红乐队少女时代受邀参加央视春晚

2015 was a huge year for Girls’ Generation. The popular veteran South Korean pop idol girl group has rebounded from the dark shadow left behind when Jessica Jung was kicked out. Their album’s self-titled song “Lion Heart” dominated Korean charts for months.

They are also the only South Korean group to be invited to China’s CCTV Lunar New Year Gala this year.

According to the pop idol girl group’s agency, Girls’ Generation was confirmed to be at the show and is expected to perform their recent hit “Lion Heart” along with their old favorites, including their 2009 single that was their breakthrough hit “Gee.”

Right now, Girls’ Generation is busy with their fourth concert tour, titled Phantasia. Kicked off on November 21, 2015 in South Korea, they will continue to perform in three other countries.

They recently finished a 12-day stop in Japan and will be heading to perform in Thailand on January 30 and 31. Their final shows on the tour will be on April 9 and 10 in Hong Kong.

The CCTV Lunar New Year Gala is one of the biggest celebrations for China’s lunar new year. It has the largest audience of any entertainment show in the world and is often described as among “the most watched television programs in the world.” The 2014 edition of the gala drew in an estimated 800 million viewers to the broadcast.

At this moment, not much has been revealed about the upcoming CCTV Lunar New Year Gala except that it will air on February 8, 2016.
