A healthy life depends on playing sports. If we don’t have a healthy body, we will not do anything well. Therefore, a sports meeting offers us a good chance to be stronger. Last week, our school held a sports meeting that lasted for two days. We had an opening ceremony on the playground on Wednesday afternoon. All of us were excited and energetic, and the school was lively. Each team gave us a wonderful performance. After the parade, Senior 1 students had a radio gymnastic exercises competition. Then we started our races. There were a lot of events, such as the long jump, the high jump, various distance running, relay races and so on. They were wonderful and exciting. Every contestant tried his or her best to win. In the 1,500m race, even though the sun was shining fiercely and the contestants were exhausted, they never gave up. Finally, they finished running the long distance. In the 400m relay race, Tracy, the runner in my class, ran so fast that no one could catch up with her. Her leg was hurt, but she still kept on running fast. What a tough girl she was! When she got to the finish line, everyone cheered loudly. I joined the long jump. At first, I was a bit afraid. A few days ago, I made progress with my friend’s help. I tried hard, but didn’t get any prize and I was a bit upset. My friends encouraged me, and I thought I would practice hard to do better next time. I was glad that our class won the first prize in the school sports meeting. The sports meeting made us united and strong. It was an unforgettable experience. A sports meeting not only helps us exercise, but also brings us enjoyment. In the busy school life, we always have a lot of pressure. We need to do exercise to relieve the pressure so that we can greatly improve our studies. In our daily life, we often meet difficulties and want to give up. We need the sports spirit “Never give up!” to keep us going forward! |
