Three shows at B10 Live
    2016-02-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

American instrumental post-rock band Caspian will perform and promote their new album “Dust and Disquiet” at B10 Live on Friday. Hong Kong indie rock band KillerSoap will give a show the next night and Australian visual electronics band Mn’JAM will perform Sunday.

Caspian formed in 2003 in Massachusetts. It draws from a broad scope of influences, ranging from the ambient sophistication of Eluvium and Brian Eno to the crushing fury of art-metalists such as ISIS and Tool. Caspian shares common threads with Sigur Ros, M83 and The Appleseed Cast.

The music of KillerSoap is a mix of the East and the West, consisting of fast, upbeat, catchy tunes as well as some moody, touch-your-heart type ballads. The catchy melodies are influenced by J-rock and J-pop while the rhythm section and guitar arrangements are more influenced by Western music.

Four of their songs were selected to be included in the computer game “Audition” — an online music game with more than 2 million registered players worldwide. In winter 2008, they won the champion of China Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB.com) and represented China at the world final in London against 26 other bands.

In an innovative way, especially in the world of jazz, Mn’JAM presents a show that epitomizes how visuals and music support each other. The performance, with an idiosyncratic lineup that includes turntables and visuals, is a truly synthetic experience, allying jazz musicians with an urban feel, whether through street art or Mondrian-inspired projections, live looping/turntables or acoustic drum n’ bass rhythms.

Known for their refreshing approach to jazz and their vivid performances, the band’s members are Melissa Oliveira (vocals), JAM (visuals, turntables), Virxilio da Silva (guitar), Jose Carlos Barbosa (bass) and Tuur Moens (drums).

    Time: 8:30 p.m., Feb. 26 (Caspian), 27 (KillerSoap), 28 (Mn’JAM)

    Tickets: 60-100 yuan

Venue: B10 Live, North Area, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意文化园北区B10现场)

Metro: Luobao Line, Qiaocheng East Station (侨城东站), Exit A(SD News)
