Book on SZ’s natural environment coming soon
    2016-03-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A book featuring Shenzhen’s unique natural landscape, wildlife, environment and other natural elements will be published on April 10.

Nan Zhaoxu, the book’s author, systematically recorded the city’s natural uniqueness for the first time in Shenzhen’s history. It took Nan more than 10 years to finish the book.

The book is particularly written to teach teenagers and students about the landscape, environment, flora and fauna of the city in which they live. It also aims at inspiring students to study more about Shenzhen and protect the city’s environment.

With abundant pictures and sketches, the book comprehensively covers a broad range of topics. For instance, it illustrates the connection between the number of migratory birds and the living conditions of human beings. It also examines the growth and death of coral at Dapeng Bay.

The new book is not Nan’s first examination of Shenzhen’s nature. The author has already published a few books, one of which is “Notes of Landscape in Shenzhen.”

Nan said in an interview with the Daily Sunshine two years ago that he decided to write these books because he had experienced a great deal of joy when exploring the city’s landscape over the past decade.

Shenzhen is the only first-tier city that has a unique landscape of mountains, according to Nan. He said that Shenzhen is home to one-sixth of all types of butterflies and one-10th of all types of dragonflies in China.

The author said he wanted to raise the public’s awareness of protecting the irreplaceable environment of Shenzhen. (Zhang Qian)
