Renowned violinist named cultural adviser
    2016-04-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Futian District Government has hired renowned violinist Lu Siqing as the district’s cultural adviser.

Xiao Yafei, head of the district government, said he hopes Lu will help promote Futian’s cultural exchange with the outside world and enhance Futian’s cultural profile.

In 2012, the Futian government started a 100-million-yuan (US$15.47-million) program appointing 100 cultural and sports celebrities as its advisers or “ambassadors” to promote the district’s cultural development and raise the district’s profile.

According to an agreement between Lu and the district government, Lu will organize a contest for teenage violinists in Futian in October. He held a violin solo concert in Shenzhen Concert Hall on March 8.

The district has signed cooperation agreements with piano star Lang Lang, basketball player Yi Jianlian, pipa player Fang Jinlong, cultural scholar Wang Luxiang and Go master Nie Weiping. Lu is the 10th cultural and sports celebrity to have signed such a deal with Futian. (Roger Lin)
