Shenzhen student honored with national prize for noble characters
    2016-04-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Li Peipei, a senior at Pingshan High School, was crowned as one of the 1,000 “most beautiful middle school students” in China in 2015.

The campaign, jointly organized by several national youth leagues and the China Youth Daily and initiated in June last year, aimed at rewarding middle school and vocational school students who are patriotic, diligent and willing to help others with their creative minds.

Li was born and grew up in Xinjiang in Northwest China. She left her hometown to pursue her studies when she was 12 years old. Li is now a Grade 12 student in the Xinjiang Class at Pingshan High School.

With her hardworking attitude and passion for helping others, Li has received many awards, including Merit Student. Apart from her excellent academic performance, Li also devoted a lot of time to broadcasting and hosting, delivering speeches and volunteering.

The Xinjiang Class at Pingshan High School was established in 2012 to assist students from ethnic minority groups in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to blend into the mainstream culture with their awareness of the value of their unique cultures. The selection of the elite students with noble characters was conducted in three stages, including searching, online voting and panel review.

More than 1,000 students from middle schools and vocational schools around China received the awards.
