MORE than 300 overseas Chinese students will bring their research projects to the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, which will be held over the weekend at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

The students, most doctorate degree holders, will meet venture capital companies, the Shenzhen Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Students said.

In Hall 1, 16 projects will be presented at the final entrepreneurial startup contest. The organizer will invite investment agencies to evaluate the projects, which include medicine, manufacturing and new energy projects.

One-hundred enterprises will offer 1,600 job vacancies in Hall 2.

Job vacancies are mainly in finance, tourism and human resources. Employers offer a minimum annual salary of 80,000 yuan (US$12,384). About 5,000 returned overseas students are expected to participate in the job fair.

Statistics from the Shenzhen Municipal Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs showed that Shenzhen attracted 70,000 Chinese who studied in 36 countries and regions outside the Chinese mainland, including the U.K., the U.S., Australia and France. Twenty percent graduated from the world’s top 100 universities.

In 2015 alone, Shenzhen attracted 7,038 returned professionals, an increase of 64.55 percent over the previous year. The city offers subsidies of between 300,000 and 1 million yuan for returned professionals and students to start viable businesses.

So far, 154 professionals in Shenzhen have been selected for the National 1,000 Professional Program and 1,219 have been selected for the Peacock Plan, which aims to bring high-tech talent to Shenzhen.

The city now has 30 industrial parks for returned overseas professionals. Among the 3,900 enterprises in the parks, the annual production volume of 59 enterprises exceeds 100 million yuan.
