    THE 14th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) will have an area set aside to counsel Chinese citizens looking to study abroad. The conference will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.

    “Delegates from over 100 overseas universities will attend the conference to showcase their academic resources and explain their admission plans for attendees,” said Chen Fanglin, a Shinyway Education officer. It’s the second year that Shinyway Education helped organize the international education exhibition for CIEP.

    Chen said two forums, which will consist of eight public lectures featuring overseas education, will be held during the conference. Senior overseas-study consultants and overseas returnees will give advice to attendees preparing for IELTS or the SAT or applying for admission to universities in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia.

    Li Xianwen, a travel writer and photographer, and Chen Yixuan, a master’s degree holder from the University of Leicester in the U.K., will share their overseas travel and study experience during the forums.

    Wang Gang, a Hong Kong International College’s officer, said the college’s staff will explain the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), a language test that is similar to TOFEL and IELTS. He said the MELAB is recognized by over 1,000 universities.

    Hong Kong International College is a co-organizer of the international education exhibition this year and will explain the application process for universities and high schools in the U.S. and Canada. Wang said information about the American College Test (ACT), a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in the U.S., will be provided.

    Wang said China CITIC Bank will also attend the exhibition to introduce the bank’s financial services for people who need financial support to study abroad.

    “The overseas-study counseling and language training market in Shenzhen is not as large as in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, but it’s still outpacing second-tier cities in terms of demand,” Wang said.

    The exhibit area will be located at Hall 1 of the Convention and Exhibition Center. A forum will be held both Saturday and Sunday.
