    THE Global Intelligence Forum, a gathering of some of the top experts in economics, technology, politics and finance from around the world, will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Saturday.

    The forum, previously known as the International Professionals Summit Forum and later renamed the Shenzhen Forum, was officially renamed the Global Intelligence Forum this year with approval from the State Council, said Song Junsheng, the forum’s chief planner.

    The forum will host experts, political figures and entrepreneurs for high-end talks. The number of guests keeps growing each year, said Song.

    Inventor Edward Jung, Deputy Mayor of Cambridge Jeremy Benstead, and the founder and president of the Shenzhen Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology, Liu Ruopeng, will attend the Saturday forum.

    The forum will discuss intelligent manufacturing in China, “Internet Plus Innovation,” patents and investment.

    Song said the two main forums focusing on intelligent manufacturing and Internet Plus will be held Saturday morning. Xu Gehui, a TV hostess at Phoenix Satellite Television, will host these two forums.

    Nobel Prize winner Barry Marshall will join the discussion with local entrepreneurs like Deng Peng, the founder and director of UBTECH Robotics, a Shenzhen-based robotics company.

    The Alpha robots developed by Deng’s company became popular after being featured during this year’s Spring Festival Gala on CCTV.

    The afternoon session, according to Song, will focus on patents and finance in the Internet era. Song said that the number of patents issued in Shenzhen was increasing, but patents were rarely discussed during forums.

    Ma Weihua, former president of China Merchant Bank, will also participate in the forum and talk about finance industry topics.
