HARRY STYLES could be leaving One Direction for US-based solo venture
    2016-05-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Be warned One Directioners, Harry Styles may be departing the U.K. pop band in favor of a solo career in the United States, with two record companies apparently fighting it out over his future in music following his debut acting stint in Hollywood flick “Dunkirk” and the group’s recent break.

According to The Sun, Styles may not return to One Direction once the band’s break is over as he’s reportedly in a contract battle between Simon Cowell’s Sony-based Syco label and Universal. Reports suggest that the potential new deal is likely to be based in the United States and may see him join the likes of Katy Perry and Beck on the Capitol Records roster.

However, Sony is serious about keeping Styles at their record company. “Harry is being offered so many incentives to stay. They’re breaking the bank for him,” a source told The Sun. However, whether Styles will accept Sony’s offer remains unknown.

“Styles wants to move as far away from the band as possible and for him that means an entirely new team based in America,” said another source, though someone close to the star admitted that there are still no certainties when it comes to his future. “He has made no decisions about his music future. He is close to many people at Sony and focusing on filming his first movie,” they said.

The movie in question is Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama “Dunkirk,” co-starring Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. Styles recently debuted a shorter crop of hair having cast away his long curls for the movie role.

Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol also recently revealed to Press Association that he was working with Styles on some solo material. “I’ve been friends with Harry for a long time, and we’ve written together a lot,” he said. “Harry is a really prolific artist and a super-talented guy. He’s really authentic and he has an incredible voice, so we’ve been writing a lot of songs. We’ve been writing songs for years together.”
