Phase IV Metro plan released

    SHENZHEN will build 274.4 kilometers of Metro rail, including 251.2 kilometers underground, under its Phase IV construction plan (2017-2022), which was released to the public recently.

    The first batch of projects under the plan include a spur line for Line 6, Phase 2 of Metro Line 8, a south extension of Metro Line 10, an east extension of Metro Line 11, construction of lines 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 20, according to the second environment impact report released by the Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center at its official website www.sutpc.com.

    The spur line of Line 6 links Guangming CBD with Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen School. It will start from Lilin Station of Line 6 and run 6.4 kilometers along Guangming Boulevard, Guangqiao Road and Gongchang Road. It will be connected with the R1 Line in Dongguan.

    The east extension of Line 8 is a tourism line linking Yantian and Dapeng. It runs 19.3 kilometer with six stations. It starts from Xiaomeisha and runs along the south of the Yanba Expressway, passing Kuichong, Shangdong and Tuyang before turning south along Pingkui Road, Pingxi Road, Yingbin Road to the Dapeng Tourism Terminal Center. The spur line starts from Tuyang and will end at Kuichong Culture Square. It will be connected with Line 16.

    The south extension of Line 10 will start from Futian Checkpoint and run 2.4 kilometers along Guihua and Jinhua roads.

    Line 11, which will be put into operation this month, will be extended eastward to Shanghai Hotel, passing Shennan Boulevard.

    Line 12, which covers city’s west, will link Shekou, Nanshan, Bao’an, airport area and end at the future Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. The 36.9-kilometer line will have 27 stations.

    Travelers to Hong Kong through Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint will have a chance to take Metro Line 13, which will link Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and Shiyan and Guangming. The 40.9-kilometer line will be extended north and connect with a Metro line in Dongguan.

    The 27.1-kilometer Line 15 links Shenzhen Hi-tech Industrial Park in Nanshan District, Qianhai and Bao’an CBD, while Line 16, which runs 27.6 kilometers, links Universiade New Town and Pingshan New Area. It is an important line for the city’s eastern development. Line 17 links Luohu CBF with Pinghu, Longgang, while Line 20, a 12-kilometer line in northern Bao’an, starts from future terminal 4 of Shenzhen airport and will be connected with a stop in Dongguan.
