DEMI LOVATO and longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama are the latest couple to have split this summer.

    The singer and actor announced the news of their breakup in a note posted on Instagram that states the pair will remain friends.

    The late Friday night statement read: “After almost six loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship.

    “This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends,” the message continued. “We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer & Demi.”

    Valderrama, 36, and Lovato, 23, were last seen together at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22, when Lovato performed “Cool for the Summer.”

    Last summer, she told a New Zealand radio station that she was “very, very in love with” with Valderrama and “would say yes” if he proposed to her. In January, the couple celebrated their six-year anniversary together. They started dating when Lovato turned 18, soon after she entered rehab for emotional and physical issues.

    The singer previously revealed to Cosmopolitan that the only time she and Valderrama broke up during their relationship was when she was relapsing.(SD-Agencies)
