死党
    2016-June-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

“死” means “diehard,” and “党” means “political party.” Originally meaning a diehard follower, the term is today often used by people to refer to their own close friends who they believe will never let them down in whatever situation.

    Example:

    A: 你最近有什么需要代购的吗?

Nǐ zuìjìn yǒu shénme xūyào dàigòu de ma?

Do you want to buy anything overseas?

    B: 好啊,我看中一款香奈儿的包包。是你要出国旅游吗?

Hǎo a, wǒ kànzhòng yīkuǎn xiāngnàir de bāobāo。Shì nǐ yào chūguó lǔyóu ma?

Sure, there is a Chanel handbag I want. Are you going on an overseas tour?

    A: 不是我,我有个死党下周去巴黎。

Bùshì wǒ, wǒ yǒu gè sǐdǎng xiàzhōu qù bālí。

Not me. A close friend of mine is heading for Paris next week.

    B: 太好了。回头我把要买的包包发图片给你。

Tài hǎo le。Huítóu wǒ bǎ yào mǎi de bāobāo fā túpiàn gěi nǐ。

Cool. I will send you the picture of the bag that I want.
