Last week, I gave a class to my new classmates in Tang Ying’s experimental class on the strategy of “using visual imagery.” It was a very useful and unforgettable experience for me. Although I was ready for this class, I was so nervous when I stood on the stage and gave the lesson. Fortunately, in the end, I finished my task with my heart beating fast. There was no denying that this experience helped my spoken English. I can do better next time. Although I had finished this task, I found that I still had some shortcomings. I couldn’t speak fluently in public. What’s more, I was so nervous that I forgot what I wanted to say. In addition, I didn’t look at the audience to check if they had understood me when I spoke. I will try my best to get rid of all my shortcomings. What’s more, giving a lesson was exciting. To finish my task, I did my best to memorize my part of the work. I spent all the time that I could spare after memorizing what I wanted to say and practicing my spoken English. What’s more, I went to Tang’s office many times where she gave me guidance and training. Tang taught me patiently how to give the lesson. After that, I managed to learn the lines by heart and got the courage to face the audience and give a lesson. From my point of view, giving a lesson is a great chance for us to improve our English. To give a lesson to your classmates, you are expected to have a good plan and make full preparations. It took me one week to do that. I hope that my classmates will be brave and give better lessons than me. You will benefit and learn a lot when you plan and give a lesson to your class. |
