FABIO CANNAVARO said on his social media accounts Wednesday that he will return to China to coach Tianjin Quanjian, a second-tier soccer club.
“Ready for China, begins a new experience with Tianjin Quanjian,” the 42-year-old Italian posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, both in Italian and English, which have attracted a lot of comments.
The former Italy defender, who captained his country to World Cup victory in 2006, has already got Chinese experience under his belt following a one-year stint as coach of Guangzhou Evergrande. Cannavaro, who won the Ballon d’Or 10 years ago, took charge of Guangzhou in November 2014 and was sacked last June, replaced by Brazil’s Felipe Scolari.
He went on to manage Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, but was sacked in February for “bad results” just four months after taking charge.(SD-Xinhua)
