An overseas study fair will be held Sunday afternoon at Wuzhou Guest House in Futian District to provide counseling about education at overseas schools and institutes.
The fair will have educational experts and recruiters from popular institutes in Britain, North America and New Zealand. A wide range of overseas education counseling, from high school to postgraduate programs, will be explained.
Officials from the British Consulate and the education promotion office of New Zealand will explain the latest policies for overseas students. Students can also apply for interviews with some overseas institutes at the fair.
It is now easier for Chinese students to study in New Zealand and start a career there since the country relaxed its visa policy for overseas students, according to Amber Education, the fair’s organizer. New Zealand now offers a five-year Pathway Student Visa and grants one-year work visas to fresh graduates who have completed a degree there. Some schools even offer paid internships to students.
Australia has simplified visa application procedures. Starting from July 1, all students are required to submit applications online, instead of submitting paper documents. Britain has opened a multi-entry two-year tourist visa for Chinese nationals, making it a more attractive destination for overseas study.
Amber Education suggests students planning to study overseas start visa applications in advance to avoid delays, since a rush for visas is likely in July when gaokao results are announced.
Yang Xiao, general manager of Amber Education’s Shenzhen office, encourages college graduates, if their family income permits, to continue their studies overseas to improve their language skills and earn a higher degree in the face of the harsh employment environment in China.
Amber Education has also opened a consultation service for overseas investment and immigration, catering to the needs of the rising number of families who are seeking long-term overseas investment.
Organized by Amber Education, a Hong Kong-based study institution with more than 15 years of experience in the field, the fair intends to offer high school students wider options for college education, giving that academic performance is not the only standard of evaluation for enrollment in overseas schools.
