KATE WINSLET is in negotiations to join Idris Elba in “The Mountain Between Us,” Fox 2000’s adaptation of the Charles Martin book.
Hany Abu-Assad is directing the film, which is being produced by Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping.
The romantic drama tells of a woman, engaged to be married, and a surgeon who charters a plane to get them home after inclement weather delays their flight. When the plane crashes in a snowy wilderness, the two must work together to survive.
Chris Weitz wrote the most recent draft. The studio is eyeing a December start in British Columbia.
Winslet is a seven-time Oscar nominee, winning for 2008’s “The Reader,” and was last seen in John Hillcoat’s gritty crime thriller “Triple 9.” (SD-Agencies)
