Monkeys snatch GoPro for selfies
    2016-June-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THESE cheeky monkeys found a GoPro sitting in a tree — and couldn’t resist taking a few selfies.

The white-faced capuchins were hanging out in Manuel Antonia National Park, in Costa Rica, when they discovered the camera. One monkey’s curiosity got the better of him, and he nabbed the GoPro to show his pals — and ended up filming hilarious selfies as the confused chimps tried to figure out the mysterious technology.

The footage of the mischievous monkeys was taken on school student Cole Weber’s GoPro, after he left it in a tree in the hope of getting some stealthy video.

Weber, 18, from California, the U.S., said, “There were a group of 10 or 11 monkeys that were sleeping, playing and eating near a trail through the park.

“I put my GoPro in a tree, hoping that one of them might come near it for a cool video.

“I honestly had no idea one of them would take it!

“When I saw him take the GoPro, my immediate fear was that he would go deeper into the forest and I wouldn’t be able to get it back. I could kind of see him from where I was, and after the monkeys realized it didn’t taste any good they got tired of it and dropped it.

“I was about to go get it — when another monkey came and picked it up, and took it back up into the trees. He didn’t keep it for very long as he dropped it after inspected it.

“I had my phone connected to the GoPro’s Wi-Fi — so I was watching the footage live from my phone.” (SD-Agencies)
