Concert by Starling Chamber Orchestra
    2016-June-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Starling Chamber Orchestra from the United States will present Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons,” Sarasate’s “Gypsy Airs,” Weber’s “Andante e Rondo Ongarese, Op. 35,” Bartok’s “Romanian Folk Dances,” Mozart’s “Serenade No. 13 for Strings in G Major, K. 525,” Vieuxtemps’ “Yankee Doodle” and Hellmesberger’s “Serenade for Three Violins and Piano.”

German violinist Kurt Sassmannshaus will wield the baton.

The Starling Chamber Orchestra is a 25-member string ensemble of top players from the Cincinnati Starling Project. Founded by Kurt Sassmannshaus in 1987, the orchestra offers unprecedented opportunities for young artists to perform as soloists, tour internationally, and make recordings.

These young musicians have attracted widespread attention, including feature articles in The Washington Post and The New York Times. Since 1992, the orchestra has performed frequently at the Aspen Music Festival and has toured Europe, South Korea, Russia and China. In Cincinnati, the orchestra performs an annual series of concerts at the College-Conservatory of Music of University of Cincinnati.
