IT was a terrifying moment when a black bear opened the door of a family’s car in a national park.
The family was driving through Yellowstone National Park on June 3 when they spotted the animal.
Coming to a halt, they eagerly took pictures as the bear approached.
But their excitement soon turned into screams — and it was captured on video. The mother of the family filmed as her husband, sat in the front seat, held his camera to the window.
However, as he leans to take a photo, the bear stands on its hind legs, grabs the door handle with its paws, and pulls open the door.
The father scrambles back and the kids scream as the bear keeps pulling the door open.
Eventually, the father manages to pull the door shut with his feet, then the film ends.
It is perhaps no surprise that the bear ambled over to the car so naturally: according to the park’s website, it was once routine for black bears to be fed by visitors from their cars.
The park is home to hundreds of black bears. (SD-Agencies)
