    Ancient porcelain

    Porcelain relics provided by the Shenzhen Museum, Guangdong Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art and Macao Museum are on display at the newly-opened “Maritime Porcelain Road” exhibition in the Shenzhen Museum.

    Iron sculptures

    More than 50 iron sculptures, collages and paper-cuttings created by German-based Chinese artist Ren Rong are on display at Art 1618.

    Free movie salon

    Come join the free Futian English Movie Salon. Watch an English movie and communicate with like-minded people in English. Entry is free. On July 1, U.S. romantic comedy-drama film “Ruby Sparks” (2012) will be shown. It was directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, and stars Paul Dano as an anxious novelist whose fictional character, Ruby Sparks, played by Zoe Kazan, comes to life.

    Book Exchange

    Join the Book Exchange for a chance to browse the largest expat library in Shenzhen! Run entirely on volunteer power and hosted in a local community center, Book Exchange is a book-sharing group that’s entirely free to join. Find something you wanna read? Take it home! Want to share a book with the community? Leave it with the Book Exchange! It currently has over 700 English books and about 100 Chinese books.

    Summer trance party

    A bunch of local music producers who have made great contributions to trance music will bring an amazing visual and auditory feast to all the electronic music lovers. Various types of trance music will be presented including the ethereal progressive trance, the traditional classic trance, the vintage uplifting trance, the magic tech trance and the dreamy psy trance.

    Cat adoption day

    Homeless cats, collected by volunteers of a local website szcat.org, are waiting for pet lovers to take them home from an adoption event Sunday in Longhua New Area. All cats will be available to new owners free of charge. Organized by szcat.org, the event encourages people not to abandon their pets even if they move out of the city. At the event, new cat owners will be given free cat food provided by Nature Bridge.

    ‘Wasted Time’

    Teatro Plus from Spain will present the play “Wasted Time” in Shenzhen. A new father is a normal person with a regular schedule. However, his strict schedule changes completely along with his daughter Beibei’s appearance! She needs to be fed, played with, and taken care of. She needs lots of time. The father gets annoyed and asks Beibei not to bother him.

    Paintings, pottery

    Shenzhen artists Yan Xiaoping and Liang Bing, who both studied ceramics in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, are exhibiting their paintings and pottery at the Shenzhen Fine Art Institute. Entry is free.
