HEAVY rain or thunderstorms are expected to hit Shenzhen today and tomorrow, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said yesterday. It will be cloudy most of the time.
Nepartak, the first typhoon of the year, formed in the northwestern Pacific Ocean yesterday morning and was 3,600 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen at 2 p.m. yesterday, meteorologists said. The typhoon will move northwest at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, gaining strength on the way. It is expected to bring gales and heavy rain to eastern coastal areas this week.
Shenzhen will not be directly affected by the typhoon over the coming three days, the observatory said.
The city will have showers and sunny periods Wednesday and Thursday, the observatory said. It will be hot Friday and Saturday. (SD News)
