Meaning:
This term is the Chinese translation of the coined English word “McFashion,” made known to readers by a book review in The Guardian published in 2003. “From Gap to H&M our high streets are full of the same shops selling the same cheap chic — the clothing version of fast food,” the essay said. McFashion clothing collections are based on the most recent fashion trends presented at fashion weeks. The emphasis is on optimizing certain aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing on a small budget so that consumers buy the outfits at a low price.
Example:
A: 到了大减价的季节了吗?
Dào le dàjiǎnjià de jìjié le ma?
Is it the sales season yet?
B: 很多麦时尚的品牌都在打折呢。
Hěnduō màishíshàng de pǐnpái dōu zài dǎzhé ne。
Many McFashion brands are on sale now.
A: 可是那些品牌的衣服质量都不怎么好。
Kěshì nàxiē pǐnpái de yīfú zhìliàng dōu bù zěnme hǎo。
But the clothes those brands sell are not of high quality.
B: 质量再好你也不会穿十年吧。
Zhìliàng zài hǎo nǐ yě bùhuì chuān shínián ba。
You wouldn’t be wearing an outfit for 10 years anyway.
