American Indie rock band Surfer Blood from West Palm Beach, Florida, will perform at B10 Live on Friday, part of their China tour. It will bring its newest album “1000 Palms” to Shenzhen.
Surfer Blood says the summer tour is a tribute to their former guitarist Thomas Fekete, who passed away May 30.
It has been seven years since Surfer Blood debuted. Surfer Blood has four members, John Paul Pitts (lead vocals), Mike Mcleary (guitar/backing vocals), Lindsey Mills (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Tyler Schwarz (drums).
They have released three albums and one EP. Their first single “Swim” was named as the 37th best track on Pitchfork’s 100 Best Songs of 2009. It has a repetition of dominant chords and a brisk guitar solo in the middle. Their second album was released by Warner Brothers.
Pitts and Schwarz initially started playing music together, and they met Fekete at the Ultra Music Festival where they decided to form a band.
The band was originally called Jabroni Sandwich. Schwarz came up with the name Surfer Blood because he occasionally talked about his surfer backpack from high school with Pitts.
