Taiwan singer Jay Chou promoted his new album “Jay Chou’s Bedtime Stories” in Beijing on Monday. The singer-songwriter, who released his first single from the album, “Lover From the Past,” in June, once described his 14th album as “10 of the most unusual and imaginative stories told by a musical storyteller,” and said the album was inspired by the birth of his daughter Hathaway, Chou’s first child with wife Hannah Quinlivan. Chou said he wished his little daughter could be his youngest fan. In a music video released with “Love From the Past” in June, the 10-month-old Hathaway was featured. The video attracted more than 2.1 million views soon after it was released. Chou said the song was an ode to Hathaway. “It’s almost 12. Go home and listen to the new song. What song led Hathaway to have ‘liked it secretly?’” Chou wrote on Facebook before posting the video. “Anyone remember a video in which she played a melody a few months ago?” The video begins with, “There is a girl, her name is Hathaway. When she was 4 months old, she played a melody. I am so proud of her. She is my daughter.” The music video ends with Hathaway playing a toy piano, apparently the inspiration for the new song’s melody. Quinlivan had uploaded the same clip of Hathaway on her Weibo last November. In addition to “Lover From the Past,” the new album also contains the theme song of Chou’s new Hollywood flick, “Now You See Me 2.” (SD-Agencies) |
