Kevin Garnett contemplating retirement
    2016-July-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TIMBERWOLVES forward Kevin Garnett is contemplating retirement ahead of his 22nd season in the NBA, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told NBA.com’s Steve Aschburner.

During a dinner in Las Vegas about a month ago, the veteran power forward reportedly told Taylor that he is willing to keep playing, but is unsure his body can hold up for another year.

Garnett, 40, was taken by the Timberwolves with the No. 5 pick in the 1995 draft and spent the first 12 seasons of his career in Minnesota before returning in the middle of the 2014–15 season. He has been helping the team’s young core in their development.

“I just asked him, ‘Kevin, what are you going to do?’ His answer was, ‘I’d really like to play next year ‘cuz I’d like to go out knowing we got into the playoffs,’” Taylor said.

“Then he said, ‘I don’t know if I can.”

Garnett is entering the final year of a two-year deal he signed before the start of last season. He is owed US$8 million.
