The China Hardware Innovation Camp (CHIC) was initially organized in Switzerland and selects students from engineering, design and business. They team up and turn their ideas into prototypes with the cooperation of Chinese partners.
Last year, CHIC did three projects: dOry, FiMi and Vesta. The success of CHIC 2015 has made CHIC 2016 more popular in Switzerland.
This year, 25 students from different disciplines have joined the program. They have almost finished their MVPs (Minimum Viable Product), and are invited to a meetup with the local maker community to share their projects in Shenzhen.
At the meetup, you can gain versatile information and experience in preparing a project, from choosing the project name and logo design to app design and development, PCB layout, firmware and software development.
The students of CHIC 2016 have participated in four amazing projects: Aimo, Hibachi, OKeep and Tikku.
Aimo is a connected mailbox lock that allows users to open their mailbox using a smartphone with a virtual key. The virtual keys are shareable with friends and family through the app that comes with the device.
Hibachi is a smart lunch box. OKeep is a connected helmet and smartphone application that makes cycling in urban areas safer. Tikku is a pair of drum sticks connected to an app that offers the experience of playing music without touching anything.
