    Hou Dengke’s photos

    Photographs by late Chinese photographer Hou Dengke (1950-2003) are on display. Born in a village in Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, Hou was a worker and later an official for a railway company. Farming and migrant workers are the themes of his black-and-white photography, recording social changes in modern China.

    Dates: Until Oct. 30

    Concert

    A chamber orchestra formed by 14 musicians from the Australian concert orchestra will perform an audio-visual concert. The orchestra, one of the excellent small symphony orchestras, comes from Melbourne, the culture and art center of Australia. They often perform to accompany operas, musicals and concerts. Furthermore, the orchestra also holds holiday concerts, community education concerts and other types of concerts.

    During the performance, the performers will wear costumes of cartoon characters and facial makeup or masks, which will bring music to life. The fairy tales for the concert are “Peter and the Wolf” and “The Little Mermaid.”

    Ancient porcelain

    Relics provided by Guangdong Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art and Macao Museum are on display at the “Maritime Porcelain Road” exhibition. The 180 exhibits showcase Chinese pottery and porcelain dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 220), Chinese made-for-export porcelain with designs commissioned by European buyers.
