    Metro line overhauling

THE Tangkeng-Shuanglong section of Metro Line 3 will suspend service hours ahead of its regular schedule Friday to give way to overhauling, the operation headquarters of Shenzhen Metro Co. said.

The last train will depart from Tangkeng Station to Shuanglong at 9:50 p.m., about two hours ahead of schedule. The last train from Shuanglong to Tangkeng will depart at 10 p.m., an hour ahead of schedule.

The company will also rearrange buses linking Tangkeng and Shuanglong stations Friday. Normal service will resume Saturday.

    Road fine

A CONTRACTOR for the construction of Chiwei Station of Metro Line 7 was fined 50,000 yuan (US$4,763) for roadside work that caused massive congestion that went for about 5 kilometers on Binhe Boulevard.

Instead of having the roadside work during night, the contractor, Shenzhen Jian’an Group, started work at 6:30 a.m. Monday by occupying a lane on Binhe Boulevard, causing congestion during morning rush hour.

    Official jailed

ZHUANG ZHIPING, former deputy Party chief of Nanwan Subdistrict Office in Longgang District, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for taking bribes amounting to 1.9 million yuan.

According to the Nanshan District People’s Court, Zhuang took bribes when he served as chairman of the Longgang District Federation of Disabled Persons between 2011 and 2014. The funds were used for personal and family expenses. Zhuang was also ordered to pay a fine of 500,000 yuan by the court.

    Official on trial

A DEPUTY department chief of the firefighting bureau attended the second trial at the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court on charges of taking bribes amounting to 140,000 yuan and power abuse. The official was previously sentenced to one year and nine months in prison by a Yantian court, but prosecutors appealed against the verdict as they thought the sentence too light.
