Alicia Silverstone to star in TV Land comedy
    2016-July-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ALICIA SILVERSTONE is returning to the small screen.

The “Clueless” actress has been tapped to star in TV Land comedy pilot “American Woman,” The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Inspired by the life of “Real Housewives’” Kyle Richards, the single-camera comedy is set in the 1970s amid the sexual revolution and the rise of feminism. Silverstone will star as Bonnie Nolan, a mother with two daughters who finds herself facing an entirely new world after she leaves her husband. As she struggles to raise her family, Bonnie sets out to claim her own brand of independence in a world not ready to give it.

“American Woman” is written by “30 Rock” alum John Riggi, who will executive-produce alongside John Wells (“Shameless,” “Southland,” “The West Wing”). The comedy hails from Warner Bros. Television’s cable-focused division, Warner Horizon Television, and Wells’ studio-based John Wells Productions banner. Richards will co-executive produce. The pilot will shift from its planned shoot in Atlanta to Los Angeles in order to accommodate Silverstone.

For Silverstone, “American Woman” marks her latest TV pilot. She was previously tapped to star in Lifetime’s “HR,” which did not move forward. Her credits include episodes of “Suburgatory” as well as features “Batman & Robin” and “The Babysitter.”(SD-Agencies)
