TWO-TIME NBA All-star Carlos Boozer has joined Chinese side Guangdong Hongyuan, the CBA team’s coach confirmed yesterday.
Guangdong Hongyuan’s head coach Du Feng posted a photo with the 34-year old on Chinese twitter-like Weibo, saying, “Welcome to join us.”
Du confirmed the deal later but didn’t add any further information.
Boozer played for Cleveland, Utah, Chicago and Lakers in his NBA career from 2002.
Following his 2014-15 campaign with the Lakers, he was not signed by a team last season, despite having interest from the Bucks and others.
Boozer was working out in Miami earlier this summer in hopes of making an NBA comeback and serving as a mentor on a young team.
Over his 13-year pro career, he averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per outing. Because the Chinese season typically ends in February or March, Boozer should have the opportunity to sign with an NBA contender for the stretch run next year should he play well abroad.
