The new Transit Elevated Bus (TEB-1) on a road test in Qinhuangdao, North China’s Hebei Province, on Tuesday. The domestically made bus, the world’s first of its kind, is a street-straddling people carrier that allows traffic to flow under it. The vehicle, 22 meters long, 7.8 meters wide and 4.8 meters high, rides on rails on the sides of a two-lane road. It is equipped with its own traffic lights and can carry up to 300 passengers between raised stations. It currently consists of one passenger compartment.Xinhua
