Two boys hold their noses as they pose for their parents in front of a corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum), the world’s largest flower, at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, the U.S., on Monday. The flower began opening around 4 a.m. Tuesday. During bloom, the flower smells like a combination of garlic, fish, diapers and rotting meat. The stench is designed to attract pollinators in the wild like insects.
