“Rolling On in Circles,” the multiple interpretation research exhibition of tempera painting, is being held at Dafen Gallery.
Tempera, the predecessor to oil painting, is used in many ancient Western masterpieces. Its pigment mixes water with oil to achieve soft luster and color. Complementing the multi-layer drawing method, tempera can give full expression to every layer of color. Though it’s not frequently used in modern painting, its historic value ought to be remembered. By reviewing this painting skill from the past, we can improve the development of contemporary art.
