“Whales, Stories of Giants,” a hypermedia dance performance, will be staged at Children’s Palace next month.

    A combination of dance and 3-D projections, the hypermedia dance performance allows viewers to immerse themselves in ancient stories with a contemporary aesthetic and narrative.

    Inspired by stories and legends from Mexican and Chilean traditions, “Whales, Stories of Giants” is a single story divided into four acts. The myths of the various geographies, Baja California and Chile, are intertwined, acting as symbols representing what all humans have in common.

    The creators interact with the virtual set, made by SNEO Mestizaje Projects (Spain), which consists of a screen in the background that projects stereoscopic 3D images. In this way, viewers go to the theater to see a play but end up seeing a show with 3D glasses as if they were at the movies.
