South Korean pianist and composer Lee Ru-ma, better known by his stage name Yiruma, will perform a recital at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center.
Yiruma frequently performs at sold-out concerts in Asia, Europe and North America. Among his most popular pieces are “River Flows in You,” “Love Hurts,” “Kiss the Rain” and “May Be.” Yiruma’s most popular album, “First Love,” was released in 2001.
Yiruma, a “new age” artist is said to have a similar style to that of contemporary classical music in film scores and television dramas. Because his music is popular among many listeners who are not familiar with classical music, the solo piano instrumentation and tendency toward “movements” often leads to labels like “neo-classical,” “pop-classical” and “contemporary-classical.”
