咬唇妆
    2016-August-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

“咬” means to “bite,” “唇” means “lip,” and

“妆” is “makeup.” Coined by Chinese fashionistas, this term which literally means “lip-biting style makeup” refers to the lip makeup where the central part of the lips is dark red and the rest has a pale pink shade. Made popular by Korean actress Song Hye-kyo who appeared in the hit TV series “Descendants of the Sun,” this style of makeup resembles the natural effect of biting one’s lips in cold weather, hence the Chinese name for it. It’s so popular that a Korean cosmetics brand has a two-tone lip bar especially designed for creating such a look.

    Example:

    A: 你会画咬唇妆吗?每次我试着涂都不成功,最后还是涂满了。

Nǐ huì huà yǎochúnzhuāng ma? Měicì wǒ shì zhe tú dōu bù chénggōng, zuìhòu háishì tú mǎn le。

Do you know how to create a lip-biting style look? I’ve tried time and again without a success and ended up with a regular full-lip makeup.

    B: 用一只普通的唇彩不容易涂好,你可以试试双色唇膏。

Yòng yīzhī pǔtōng de chúncǎi bù róngyì tú hǎo, nǐ kěyǐ shìshì shuāngsè chúngāo。

It’s not easy to achieve the effect with a regular lipstick. You can try a two-tone lip bar.
