    British house and techno DJ and record producer Sonny Wharton will spin at Pepper Club. In addition to his solo career, Wharton has launched the record label Whartone Records which features a range of house music DJs and producers.

    Cat adoption day

    Homeless cats, collected by volunteers of the local cat-caring website szcat.org, are waiting for pet lovers to take them home from an adoption event Sunday. All cats will be available to new owners free of charge. Organized by szcat.org, the event discourages people from abandoning their pets even if they move out of the city. At the event, new cat owners will be given free cat food provided by Nature Bridge.

    Art Nouveau Ensemble

    Chinese-Korean Art Nouveau Ensemble will present a free concert Aug. 21 afternoon at the Shenzhen Concert Hall. The program will be Sarasate’s “Navarra,” the third movement of Mozart’s “Sinfonia Concertante K364,” Piazzolla’s “Primavera Portena” and “Verano Porteno,” Mozart’s “Piano Quartet in G Minor, K.478” and Brahms’ “Piano Quartet No. 1, Op. 25.” Free tickets can be claimed at http://www.szyyt.com/.

    Ukiyo-e exhibition

    Ukiyo-e paintings are on display at Bridge Gallery. The ukiyo-e genre of art flourished in Japan from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors, sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, landscapes, flora and fauna and erotica. The term ukiyo-e translates as “pictures of the floating world.”

    Tatsuhide Matsuoka

    Japanese scientific picture book illustrator and author Tatsuhide Matsuoka will give a lecture on his works. Matsuoka developed a strong interest in nature while in grade school, and spent much of his time observing and gathering specimens. For the last four decades he has been one of Japan’s foremost illustrators specializing in natural sciences. His extensive fieldwork has taken him throughout Japan as well as to America, Southeast Asia and Africa, and he has channeled the fruits of those travels into a number of scientific picture books.

    Van Gogh

    A multimedia display of Van Gogh’s work, letters and the environment he lived in is being held at the “Van Gogh Age: Impressionism Exhibition.” The exhibition features 35 huge screens displaying over 3,000 paintings and photos. The exhibit aims to offer visitors a multi-sensory way to enjoy art.

    ‘Terminator 2’

    Happy 25th anniversary to one of the most successful sequels of all time. “Terminator 2” to this day is the most successful “Terminator” movie. With an exhibiting space of 1,500 square meters, the “Terminator 2” 25th anniversary exhibition features VR/AR games with Hololens, character models, costumes, props and souvenirs. Each adult ticket includes a movie ticket to see “Terminator 2” (3D).

    Louvre replica

    The Louvre, the world’s largest museum and French historic monument, is exhibiting prints reproduced from classic paintings and sculpture replicas. With the authorization of the Louvre Museum and the National Museum Union of France, the exhibition breaks the norms of traditional viewing, and creatively applies new VR technology.
